PAWS for WCDS core mission is to provide support to the Wayne County Dog Shelter and Adoption Center.

About Us

Our Mission

Wayne County PAWS, a newly formed 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is dedicated to supporting the Wayne County Dog Shelter and Adoption Center. Our mission is to assist the shelter through volunteerism, fundraising efforts, and educational training opportunities, while also raising awareness of the shelter’s needs and the care of shelter animals. We are an all-volunteer organization passionate about providing above-standard care and compassion to every animal that arrives at the shelter. Believing in the essential work the Wayne County Shelter provides to our community, we work alongside them to ensure the well-being of stray dogs in our area. Visit our Ways To Help page for more details on how you can support our work!

Our Vision Statement

PAWS’ vision is to support, promote, and enhance the services provided by the Wayne County Dog Shelter. We assist in providing the highest level of physical and mental care to dogs in Wayne County, work to reduce the stray dog population through spay and neuter initiatives, and offer educational and training opportunities to both the staff and the public.

To accomplish these goals, PAWS will volunteer, promote, and fundraise for the efforts of the Wayne County Dog Shelter. Funds will be raised to implement and sustain a spay and neuter program, enhance the care provided to animals, and offer advanced training to the shelter’s employees.
